Interactive 2D & 3D High-Resolution Snowfall Forecasts.
Snowly.eu is a custom-built web application designed to provide the general public and weather enthusiasts with highly accurate, easy-to-read snowfall forecasts across Europe. We built this together with Giorgos Kyros.
We achieved this by building a pipeline that downscales outputs from major Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models (including ICON-EU, IFS, GFS and GEM). This allows us to provide an incredible 400m spatial resolution over Greece and a detailed 2.5km resolution across the rest of Europe.
The platform features both 2D mapping and interactive 3D visualisations to help users understand exactly how terrain impacts incoming weather fronts.
